Moisture from the indoor climate can influence the durability of additional components and must be monitored during the production process. These moisture-sensitive components (MSD = Moisture Sensitive Device) are only permitted to be exposed to an unprotected environment for a limited period of time. This time is referred to as the exposure time. Materials whose exposure time has been exceeded are blocked for production.
The moisture-sensitive level (MSL = Moisture Sensitivity Level) defines how long a material is permitted to remain in an unprotected environment. If the material is stored in a protected environment (e.g. a dry box), the exposure time can be stopped depending on the MSL.
A time buffer is a location- and type-related time span that shortens the material's maximum exposure time defined as standard.
Moisture-sensitive materials can be found and their MSD information displayed in the Material management > MSD treatment menu item.
The Nexeed Material Management module supports the MSD standard in accordance with IPC/JEDEC J-Std-033B.1, which describes how to handle moisture-sensitive components.
Various filter criteria can be used to search for MSD materials and display their MSD statistics in the Material management > MSD treatment > MSD statistics tab.
Defined filter criteria are displayed between the header and the results table.
